The South Bend Chocolate Company was founded in 1991 by  Mark Tarner and now has 10 company-owned stores in northern Indiana and 10 franchised locations throughout Indiana and Michigan, one being the Chocolate Cafe in downtown St. Joseph, MI.

The Chocolate Cafe offers delicious chocolates, desserts and ice cream as well as sandwiches and salads. For those obsessed with the perfect cup of coffee we are delighted to offer several varieties.

We are a Children's Theatre Company building self-confidence, communication skills and self-accountability in school age kids through the performing arts.

Performs at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell overlooking Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River. Two performances every Sunday from the end June to Labor Day (and summer holidays) at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Concert/Entertainment Venue:
Each season the Mendel Center Mainstage offers a star packed season loaded with spectacular entertainment. The Mainstage has thrilled and entertained the residents of southwestern Michigan for 17 seasons.

Over the years, the list of stars that have performed at the Mendel Center Mainstage includes Anne Murray, Vicki Lawrence, Lewis Black, Paula Poundstone, Jerry Lewis, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, Weird Al Yankovic, America, Movin' Out, Hairspray, Cats and many more. Performances have also included international touring companies such as the Russian National Ballet and the Vienna Boys Choir. Families have enjoyed the many family friendly shows such as A Christmas Carol and the Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley.

The real star however is the Mendel Center Mainstage, with only 1,517 seats, the Mainstage provides intimacy between performer and patron. Customers sit comfortably with plenty of leg room and unobstructed viewing. The stage, with an adjustable acoustic orchestra shell, can accommodate everything from a 100-piece orchestra to the biggest assemblage or a spotlight on a sololist.

The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra performs both classical and pops concerts at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Township.Their Around the Town series showcases fabulous artists performing at various locations throughout the community. During the summer months the symphony holds it Water's Edge Music Festival which is a season-long celebration of great music!
