Magical Ice Carving Festival Downtown St. Joseph February 12-14, 2010
Weekend Line-Up: Friday, February 12th, 2010
Noon Professional Ice Carving - Watch Professional ice sculptors turn blocks of ice into beautiful creations along State St.
7 p.m. Fire & Ice Opening Ceremony - Pleasant St and Lake Blvd. across from Schu's. Look for the Schu's & Miller Lite Hospitality tent on Pleasant st. The Fire & Ice tower will be located near the tent in the vacant WCA lot. Joey Edwin kicks off the weekend with a magical jazz set at 7:00 pm inside the tent. Tix at the door for $15.00 (includes appetizers) or pre-sale at the Welcome Center and Schu's for $10.00.
Saturday, February 13th, 2010 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Professional Team Carving Competition - Sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association) 10 a.m. - Noon Miniature Golf Corporate Team Tournament (Sponsored by Harbor Shores and The Golf Club at Harbor Shores) - Teams must register at least 15 minutes before tee time at the Welcome Center. Fee: $10 per team.
Noon - 6 p.m. Shopping Extravaganza (Sponsored by Shore Magazine) - Discover great finds in our Victorian-Era downtown. Watch for sales during this weekend.
1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Miniature Golf "Sweetheart" Tournament (Sponsored by Harbor Shores and The Golf Club at Harbor Shores) - Couples must register at least 15 minutes before tee time at the Welcome Center. Fee: $10 per couple.
6 - 10 p.m. Heart-Warming Entertainment & Team Carving Awards Ceremony at 6:45 p.m. - Last Mangos take the stage at 7pm....tix available at the door for $15 (includes appetizers) or pre-sale at the Welcome Center and Schu's for $15.
6 - 10 p.m. Ice Skating - Bring your sweetie to the John and Dede Howard Ice Arena for outdoor skating and indoor amenities. Fee: $5 per person and $3 skate rental.
7:30 p.m. Cool Tunes with the Southwestern Michigan Symphony Orchestra - Visit www.smso.org for more information.
Saturday, February 13th, 2010 - For Kids 10 - 11:30 a.m. Krasl Art Center Magic Show - Magician John Dudley will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp...make tie-dyed inspired snowflakes, cocoa and cookies available.
11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Maud Preston Palenske Library Magic & Stories - Magician John Dudley will perform at 11:30 a.m. for thirty minutes only. Spoon snowmen, crown decorating, removable winter tattoos and story times. Box lunches available for purchase.
2:30 - 4 p.m. Curious Kids' Museum & Discovery Zone Crafts & Magic - Soap carvings, snowflake crafts and Magician John Dudley at 2:30 p.m. More snowmen crafts at the new Discovery Zone at Silver Beach below the bluff. 6 - 9 p.m. ***NEW THIS YEAR *** Babysitting Services at Curious Kids' Museum - Includes time in museum, snacks and movie. Fee: $18 per child.
Sunday, February 14th, 2010 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Professional Individual Carving Competition
Noon - 4 p.m. Heart-Warming Entertainment & Individual Carving Awards Ceremony at 3:00 pm. Saturday's team competition from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the main intersections of State St. downtown will feature four (4) blocks of ice with a team of two professional carvers for each sculpture! The Sunday Individual Competition will feature over 15 individual carvers creating masterpieces from two, 300lb. blocks of ice; 10:00am-2:00pm. Closing Ceremonies will be held at the Schu's & Miller Lite Hospitality tent at 3:00pm with awards given at that time for the Individual Competition only. Don't forget to take a ride on the brand new Carousel for just $2 per ride below the bluff!!
